About Us
The Pictou County Tourist Association celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2007. PCTA was established by the local tourism industry in 1977. The association continues to be a membership driven, coordinating organization dedicated to the growth of the tourism industry in Pictou County. We partner with many municipalities, organizations and businesses to market Pictou County as a premier tourism destination within Nova Scotia.
Pictou County continues to offer an attractive environment for tourism and commerce coupled with an unprecedented quality of life for those who live, work and play here. Supported by a strong and outstanding industrial base, we continue to enjoy ongoing progress. Tourism is a 45 million dollar industry in Pictou County resulting in 1200 direct jobs in 2006. The future of tourism is very promising. Collectively we work for our community to achieve its full potential.
Members of the Pictou County Tourist Association receive many benefits and opportunities. These benefits include marketing and promotion, advocacy, product development, communications, visitor information services, value-added benefits, and much more. One of Pictou County's tourism operators had the following comments about being a member of PCTA.
"Being a member of the Pictou County Tourist Association is key to the future success of our business. Operators must work together to attract visitors to our county which will ultimately benefit everyone. The PCTA must be the driving force behind this and plays a key role in putting our businesses and the strengths of Pictou County on the world map." -Jeff Gunn, Stonehame Lodge and Chalets
